Foundations Instructional Design Technology
“The creation of instructional experiences which make acquisition of knowledge and skill more efficient, effective, and appealing.” (Merrill, Drake, Lacey, Pratt, 1996)
In foundations in instructional design and system design, I gained the beginning of my pyramid for instructional design in technology. I learned the tools of technology and theories that would allow me to design a process. Instructional design is a process that continues to change with the trends and the technology becomes available to the designers.
As a learner of the foundations and system design, the process that was first taught was the A.D.D.I.E. Model
Systematic design ( Dick & Carey model)
Theory to help guide the learners in the curriculum and to retain meaningful or deeper learning.
Technology that is appropriate for the learners to use.
Management, ID team, SMES, and MOOC.
Target audience
Organizations- government, healthcare, higher-ed, K-12, corporations, military, educational settings.
- How does meaningful and deeper learning occur?
- Which factors influence learning?
- What is role of memory?
- How does transfer occur?
- What types of learning are best explained by the theory?
- What basic assumptions/principles of this theory are relevant to instructional design?
- How should instruction be structured to facilitate learning?

This was the first assignment that was given in the course.
My list that I want to create for my envision as my role as an Instructional Designer
- To have a good support of technology for children and adults.
- Set goals that are achievable.
- Have fun!
- A good atmosphere. Where everyone can come to learn.
- To be a good designer to know when I need to change something that isn’t working for a student.
- Take advice from other designers. Especially if they have been in the field longer than I have.
- Support other designers in being able to get together and collaborate on designs.
- Continuing to learn. Keeping up on the new media, or technology.
- Have the courage to try new technology.
- Become a better listener.

Instructional System design
In the foundations of instructional design and system design, instructional strategies are acquired through theories and models. The main theories that were given in the system design were A.D.D.I.E, Dick & Carey, Gane’s Nine Events, Charlie Reigeluth Elaboration theory, Activity theory, and the Kirkpatrick model for the course of Instructional Design Syatems.
The Instructional Assessment was then implemented for us to determine which theory/model would be the most appropriate to use for an assessment when designing for a facilitator who needs an assessment of a learner.
Instructional assessment includes:
Learner Analysis
Needs Analysis
Task Analysis
Terminal/Enabling Analysis
Instructional Strategy
Formative/Summative evaluation plan
Along with using SMART Goals to help with achieving the set goals of the worker.
Resource that you can use for the instructional assessments include

Needs Analysis
Sept. 11, 2023
1) What change is being requested (including who is being asked to change and what is currently taking place? Learning environment of the student. Is struggling with getting school work done in a timely manner. With the change, it will see if the instruction needs to be changed, and if there are other things that might be prohibiting the learner.
2) Who is requesting this change? The Teacher is requesting the change.
3) Where will this change need to take place? The change will take place in the classroom.
4) Is instruction the most appropriate means for bringing about the desired change? Instruction may not be the best means for this student. The student may need some Intervention, along with observation, and some analysis to see what the student's needs are.

Task Analysis
Sept 17, 2023
1) What are the tasks that individuals need to be able to accomplish or perform?
The task that the individual needs to be able to accomplish or perform is a life skill. Learning to wash their face in the morning.
2) What are the key components of those tasks (That is, the skills and knowledge an individual needs in order to successfully complete or perform the task)?
The key components of this task is being able to locate where the washcloths are located. Find a stool to be able to turn the water on. Check the temperature of the water to make sure that the water isn’t too hot. May need visuals or verbal cues.
3) What is the sequence in which those tasks are accomplished or performed and should be learned and taught?
The sequence in the way washing your face could be taught.
- Get a washcloth
- soap
- Turn on the faucet
- Get washcloth wet
- Wring it out
- Put soap on washcloth
- Take the washcloth and put it on your face, and move in a circular motion around the face.
- Rinse out the washcloth and put it back on the face to get soap off.
- Then take the dry towel to dry your face.

4) How can you determine whether an individual is able to complete the tasks?
Run the task with them to see what changes you need to make for them. You may need to cut back the steps to make them easier to remember. You could also make a chart with pictures to show what step they are on. You can also create a chart for them to mark off each step as they complete it.
Following instruction, demonstrations, and practice, they will be able to independently demonstrate the above skill when asked.

Objective/ Assessment Alignment
September 30, 2023
Objective for Face washing
- Students will demonstrate washing their faces.
- Teachers will be present to watch students wash their faces.
- The teacher will have a rubric to assess the students in their progress in illustrating washing their face.

S.M.A.R.T. goals
September 24, 2023
Specific- Students will wash their face in the morning
Measurable- students demonstrate to the teacher how they wash their faces
Achievable- Knowing that they are good at washing their face
Relevant- wanting to have better appearance in public
Time-based- To have the steps down by May 2024

I also learned how to integrate OERs, Infographics, AI, QR codes the first set of business cards, and Adobe Express animator with ways to use AI voice to use in your strategies.
I used some of the AI images from class in the slide at the top of the page. The middle two are from StarryAI, a pirate woman and the ocean of pirates. The Punk Cat and the girl Ocean Walker are from Adobe Firefly AI.
